Rebelión en la granja presenta la obra de seis artistas que promueven y defienden los derechos de los animales, haciendo uso del arte urbano como la herramienta que les permite comunicar y difundir su mensaje a un público más amplio.
Las obras que componen la muestra invitan al espectador a reflexionar acerca de las diversas dinámicas de consumo en las que nos vemos inmersos y que afectan de manera directa o indirecta los hábitats de especies en peligro de extinción poniendo en riesgo el balance de ecosistemas regionales. Invitan también al público a generar conciencia acerca del consumo masivo de ciertos productos, como el uso del cuero en la industria textil o el consumo copioso de alimentos cárnicos que estimulan un mercado que depreda, maltrata, trafica y explota de manera indiscriminada a una cantidad innumerable de especies animales. A su vez, ponen en tela de juicio la pertinencia de actividades como la tauromaquia, que con el pasar del tiempo y con el desarrollo de la sociedad, develan su naturaleza barbárica y violenta que se torna anacrónica e incongruente con los nuevos sistemas de valores que ofrece la contemporaneidad.
En la sala alterna de la galería se podrán observar los carteles realizados por algunos de los artistas que componen la muestra y que fueron parte de un proyecto llamado “Murales por los toros” cuyo objetivo principal consistió en la producción, desarrollo y difusión de piezas gráficas que generaran conciencia respecto a la tauromaquia y que a su vez sirvieron para generar presión sobre las entidades estatales que la regulan, invitando a los ciudadanos y a la nueva alcaldesa Claudia López a utilizar el arte y la cultura en pro de los derechos animales y como manera de construir de comunidad.
Animal Farm presents the work of six artists who promote and defend animal rights, using urban art as a tool that allows them to transmit and spread their message to a wider audience.
The works that make up the exhibition invite the viewer to reflect on the various dynamics of consumption in which we are immerse and that directly or indirectly affect the habitats of endangered species, putting the balance of regional ecosystems at risk. They also invite the public to raise awareness about the mass consumption of certain products, such as the use of leather in the textile industry or the copious consumption of meat that stimulate a market that preys on, mistreats, traffics and exploits in an indiscriminate manner to an innumerable quantity of animal species. At the same time the exhibition questions the relevance of activities such as bullfighting, which over time and with the development of society reveal their violent and barbaric nature that becomes anachronistic and inconsistent with the new value systems that contemporaneity offers.
In the showroom of the gallery you will see the posters made by some of the artists of the exhibition and that were part of the project called "Murals for the bulls" whose main objective was the production, development and dissemination of graphic pieces that raise awareness about bullfighting and served to generate pressure on the entities that regulate this activity, inviting citizens and the new mayor Claudia López to use art and culture in favor of animal rights and as a way of building community.
