Beta presents in Volta two Latin-American artists: Alejandro Londoño and the DOMA Collective.
Alejandro Londoño (Colombia, 1989). Presents contexts where the computer machines seem to appropriate the world, to vanish the boundaries between reality and fiction. The raw material of his work is related to codes, numbers and algorithms, which arise with the appearance of "new media", especially the appearance of the computer. He constantly seeks the recovery of the analogue in the continuous evolution of the digital world.
Amongst his projects we can highlight: his participation in the “Salón ACME No 7”, México city, México (2019); the Internacional artistic residence “Pilotenkueche”, Leipzig, Germany (2018); and his participation in “Nuevos Nombres”, Bank of the Republic, Bogotá, Colombia (2018).
DOMA Collective (Argentina, founded in 1998). They have created a style recognizable by their acid and absurd vision of reality. Through the use of tools and materials from design and advertising, they create playful objects that change completely with close observation, presenting daily situations of our globalized world from a critical perspective, hence drawing attention to the contrasts and inequalities with which we live daily.
Amongst their projects we can highlight: the solo show “Naturaleza Muerta”, Centro Cultural Recoleta. Buenos Aires, Argentina (2018); they participation in Artmossphere Bienal, Moscow, Russia (2018); and the introduction of the DOMA Kidrobot Dunny Jugue in the permanent collection of MOMA, New York, USA (2007).

Galería Beta presentará en VOLTA Basel 19 a dos artistas latinoamericanos: Alejandro Londoño y el Colectivo DOMA; participaremos en colaboración con ROFA Projects, galería ubicada en Washington D:C la cual llevará a los artistas: Gladys Nistor, Aldo Chaparro y Miguel Angel Cardenal.
Alejandro Londoño (Colombia, 1989). Presenta contextos donde las máquinas de las computadoras parecen apropiarse del mundo, para desvanecer los límites entre la realidad y la ficción. La materia prima de su trabajo está relacionada con códigos, números y algoritmos, que surgen con la aparición de "nuevos medios", especialmente la apariencia de la computadora. Busca constantemente la recuperación de lo analógico en la evolución continua del mundo digital.
Entre sus proyectos podemos destacar: su participación en el "ACME Hall No. 7", Ciudad de México, México (2019); la residencia artística internacional "Pilotenkueche", Leipzig, Alemania (2018); y su participación en "Nuevos nombres", Banco de la República, Bogotá, Colombia (2018).
Colectiva DOMA (Argentina, fundada en 1998). Han creado un estilo reconocible por su visión ácida y absurda de la realidad. Mediante el uso de herramientas y materiales de diseño y publicidad, crean objetos lúdicos que cambian completamente con una observación cercana, presentando las situaciones cotidianas de nuestro mundo globalizado desde una perspectiva crítica, por lo que llaman la atención sobre los contrastes y las desigualdades con los que vivimos a diario.
Entre sus proyectos podemos destacar: la muestra individual "Naturaleza Muerta", Centro Cultural Recoleta. Buenos Aires, Argentina (2018); su participación en la Bienal de Artmossphere, Moscú, Rusia (2018); y la introducción de DOMA Kidrobot Dunny Play en la colección permanente de MOMA, Nueva York, EE. UU. (2007).
