Diego Díaz (Medellin, 1986)
Trabajando desde el dibujo, la instalación, el grabado y técnicas mixtas, Díaz aborda temáticas relacionadas con la vida, los personajes y el contexto urbano nocturno; en estas representaciones hay un vínculo patente con el barroco, que es uno de sus grandes referentes por el manejo de la luz, la teatralidad y el pliegue; sin embargo la sutileza del trazo, el minimalismo y manejo del espacio, lo ubican en la escena contemporánea.
Diego busca generar atmósferas únicas mezclando técnicas como el lápiz graso y la pintura al óleo. Diego inicia imprimando el lienzo con un pigmento oscuro que genere un grano que permita que el lápiz de color se fije sobre él, luego genera capas de color con los lápices grasos para dar volumen a la imagen a retratar, para dar por finalizada la obra, el artista tiene en cuenta el marco que ha de utilizar, ya que considera que éste genera el espacio donde habita la pieza, así aplica una imprimatura al mismo, integrando a la paleta de color de la pieza.
Artista Plástico de la Universidad de Antioquia (2013). Ha participado en Exposiciones Individuales como: La Experiencia Urbana, Club el Nogal, Bogotá (2015), y Negro a Rojo, Galería de Arte Naranjo y Velilla, Medellín (2012). A su vez, a formado parte de: la muestra colectiva Negro intenso, Alianza Francesa, Medellín (2015), de la FIA Feria Iberoamericana de Arte, Okyo Galería, Caracas (2014); Art Show Zúrich, Zúrich Switzerland (2009); entre otros.
Working from drawing, installation, engraving and mixed media, Díaz addresses themes related to life, characters and the urban night context; in these representations there is a clear link with the baroque, which is one of its great references for the handling of light, theatricality and the notion of the “crease”; However, the subtlety of the line, the minimalism and management of the space, place him on the contemporary scene.
Diego seeks to create unique atmospheres by mixing techniques such as greasy pencils and oil painting. Diego begins by priming the canvas with a dark pigment that generates a grain that allows the colored pencil to be fixed on it, then generates layers of color with the greasy pencils to give volume to the image to be portrayed, to end the artwork, the artist takes into account the frame to be used, since he considers that it generates the space where the artwork enhabits, thus applying a primer to it, integrating it into the color palette of the piece.
Plastic Artist from the University of Antioquia (2013). He has participated in Individual Exhibitions such as: The Urban Experience, Club el Nogal, Bogotá (2015), and Negro a Rojo, Naranjo y Velilla Art Gallery, Medellín (2012). At the same time, he has been part of: the collective exhibition Negro intenso, French Alliance, Medellín (2015), of the FIA Iberoamerican Art Fair, Okyo Galería, Caracas (2014); Art Show Zurich, Zurich Switzerland (2009); among others.
