En su búsqueda por encontrar lo esencial de la forma, Villamizar establece relaciones entre el arte precolombino latinoamericano y la escultura y arquitectura moderna. Plasma así formas planas y estrechas que parten de las estructuras perfectas encontradas en la naturaleza.
Estudió Arquitectura en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y Arte y Decoración en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de la misma Universidad. Trabajó varios meses con el escultor Edgar Negret. Participó en muestras colectivas “Carnegie International Exhibition”, Pittsburg; “Purism”, David Herbert Gallery, Nueva York y en el XIII Salón de Artistas Colombianos, Bogotá. Fundó el Museo de Arte Moderno Ramírez Villamizar en Pamplona donde se encuentran obras de artistas colombianos como Edgar Negret, Beatriz González, Enrique Grau, Carlos Rojas, Manuel Hernandez, Santiago Cárdenas, Fanny Sanín y Omar Rayo, entre otros.

In his quest to find the essentials of form, Villamizar establishes relationships between pre-Columbian Latin American art and modern sculpture and architecture. Shows thus flat and narrow forms that depart from the perfect structures found in nature.
He studied Architecture at the National University of Colombia and Art and Decoration at the School of Fine Arts of the same University. He worked for several months with the sculptor Edgar Negret. Participated in collective exhibitions "Carnegie International Exhibition", Pittsburgh; "Purism", David Herbert Gallery, New York and at the 13th Colombian Artists' Hall, Bogota. He founded the Ramírez Villamizar Museum of Modern Art in Pamplona, here works by Colombian artists such as Edgar Negret, Beatriz González, Enrique Grau, Carlos Rojas, Manuel Hernandez, Santiago Cardenas, Fanny Sanín and Omar Rayo, among others.
